Types of Movie Posters

How many of us feel excited and get fascinated after seeing the first look of movie poster. Every designer who is involved in creating different types of movie posters always think of making his design look alive and impart the concept that the whole world is looking and eagerly waiting for the moment.

But one question that arises in our mind is that "Can we make a movie without a poster?" The answer is no.

A poster of a movie represents an image and motion that most of the youth are looking. After going through several movie posters, I have tried to find out some of the best and most popular types of movie posters used in both bollywood and hollywood movies.

Mylar

These posters were used in earlier 70's movies and are very attractive and colourful. They are recently in news because of the mylar posters created for movies like Stars Wars and Charlie Angelie's. These are very limited edition prints because they are very expensive.

Heads in the Sky Above and Tiny People on a Beach Below

In film industry, use of big or small heads with large images of movie star faces (sometimes of a couple) or with a small scene (usually at the bottom of the poster) depict some kind and sort of action or activity which is very amusing in the today'scenario.

Through the Legs

It reveals the theme of argument and maturity level that is potrayed in the movie posters. These type of posters sometimes appear to be weired, uncanny, shocking, and miss the chance of admiration among the audiences.

From the Back (often with weaponry)

This poster is a potray of violence and rivalry. This is a kind of poster often seen in the science fiction movies and the weapon commonly used in these type of movies are gun and swords. We all are thirsty of watching destructive nature in movies. We have a thirsty for cinematic carnage propelled by balletic bullet battles and we don't think twice about it

In reality, it's hard to avoid because of which we see usage of so many guns in our movie marketing. Guns are quite oftenly used in movie posters, we found 30 releases from this year alone in which the main characters are seen with guns.

When we see the hollywood movie, one thing that first strikes in our mind is that who all are the magical persons behind the scene for creating all time favourite and best design memorable hollywood movie posters. He was the man behind design communication i.e communicating through symbols.

3. Tomasz Opasinski

Nothing to worry about as 80% of the candidates suffered from design phobia and those who overcome them have very high probabilty of becoming successful in design and multimedia industry.

You are not only the alone person who is appearing for a web designing, graphic designing, CAD or multimedia interview, you have been called for. To become a choice of an interviewer you need to have a full proof preparation, leaving no scope for the interviewer to shoot you out. To chase the design and multimedia interview race, you need to have more focus and attention on the skills you should have:

Skills required to become an Animator

How to Create Animations That Will Scale up All Smart Device

Animation on the web is particularly distinctive. If your Android phone is feeling slack or becoming too slow, there are a few ways which you can adopt to speed it up.

One of the benefits of having an Android is the degree to which you can customize it. This means you can change the way some of the features that work on the phone. For instance, by enabling the developer mode, a whole new selection of adjustments can make your device become available. One of these features is the animation length that is used system-wide. By either reducing or disabling animations, you will see an immediate performance boost.

For scaling we have to adjust our work according to bandwidth, code compatibility, and product design.

In this article, I'll explain the methods one should adopt for scaling animations which will increase positive user experience for our multi-device world.

1. SVG Sprites and CSS Animation

As its name suggests, SVG is built to scale. It's very simple and instinctive to adjust the size of a SVG. These are not dependent on resolution, so one don't have to load up additional HTTP requests or image media queries. This technique works specially for responsive, standalone animation – for example when illustrating text.

SVG is used where one want to handle picture image replacement quite nicely, but when working with different-sized moving images, it becomes much difficult to keep different things consistent. SVG is used in this way as after writing the code, we can adjust the visual appearance of the image.

Even with these key features, images will change from screen size to screen size. For making graphics clear, we should consider screen real estate.

The first is to remove repetition. We can see clearly that the desktop and tablet views are similar enough so that we could either alter the properties or replace them with CSS media queries. An example of such an alteration would be to adjust the background, so that it looks green instead of blue.

The most important part of this technique lies in the way we're handling the viewBox attribute. Viewbox is a little window in which we can view the SVG. The SVG itself can extend beyond the boundary of the viewbox, but only the area within it will be visible and the rest will be cropped out.

For the desktop and tablet versions, we want only the first tile to be shown, so initially we set the viewBox in the SVG to cover just the top section of the sprite.

2. Complex Movement

Any time you have a stand alone graphics with complex movement, I will suggest using Green Sock Animation Platform(GSAP) rather than using CSS. Although there are tons of cool things that GSAP has to offer, the main advantages in this case are:

a. Cross Browser Stability

Thanks to all our world wide web browsers and frontend development in large testing matrix in our mobile, it gets exponentially more complex. GSAP offers really stable movement, without sacrificing speed.

b. Timeline

This allows for stacking the staggered effects, with streamlined and intuitive code meeting the tagline where beauty meets purpose.

Let's first establish that animating elements with transforms and opacity is the most performant approach. It's easier for the browser to optimize because it reduces repaints, which is the most important thing for you to create jank- and stutter-free animation.

So, if you scale a complex SVG using flexbox or other techniques, your will scale accordingly your smart phone. This means you don't have to adjust anything; you can focus on writing your code correctly just once and that is forms a pretty large boom for mobile users.

When we consider a really complicated animation, we will usually design all the elements that we need first and slowly reveal them over time.

The finished animation is completely scalable – you can randomly adjust the button while it's running and have the entire thing adjust to a new dimension. When you click the button, it changes the size but the user experience stays consistent.

 3. Responsive UX

Designing a responsive experience that adjusts to the view port relies on the planning done in the design stage. You can think of it like a little interlocking blocks as we go through the design, build, and development stages, scoping each particular area to itself.

For Android mobile, to make the pieces correctly interlock, we adjust the positioning of the right section (outlined in magenta for clarity), and flip it so that it can be stack appropriately.

We always take care that part shown in the boxed sections is exported within individual SVG and is properly named, including smaller units or groups.

We then use multiple functions. Each section is scoped independently, and there is one repeated function for all of the that loop.

This makes the design much easier to build off . One can slow or pause things initially, so that it can be triggered by a user.

4. Less Pizazz on Mobile

Let's face it!! Mobile connections in (less developed countries) are pretty slow. Whether you only have a few key interactions on your site sometimes an image that looks beautiful on desktop need not scale down mobile experience.

 In the case of a large canvas, the best thing you can do is to tone it down or turn it off for smaller devices. Active theory keeps its visual language consistent, while dropping heavy canvas on mobile.

Understanding the methods of how to mould the different motions in a picture and understanding the reason why things are happening around is a key to success for creating a beautiful design.

The concept of motion has been evolved long time ago but the advanced tools have evolved now which increased the usability of experimental Animation among users.

.Designer and Animator describes the 10 basic principles of Animation for beginners. While some principles are closely related to each other, there are also some differences that can be related to the design.

1. Squash and Stretch in Animation

Adding exaggeration to an object in motion gives it a greater sense of weight and volume. This principle is descibed with a bouncing ball, the ball appears stretched when it is falling and get squashed when it hits the ground. By squashing and stretching the ball, an animator gives a more realistic feel.

The above figure uses Squash and Stretch to change objects, such as rounded corner rectangle. If we use Squash and Stretch in an object it will add weight and volume in the flat tone graphics through the motion design.

2. Staging in Animation

It is presentation of idea for establishing good mood, creating focus and clarifying what is happening in the picture.

The main objective of staging is to tell customers exactly where the action will occur so that they do not miss anything. This means that only one idea at a time occur, or else the viewers may be looking at the wrong thing. A good example of staging in motion is eye, which is drawn in an motion in an otherwise still scene. In a scene when we see everything is moving around, the eye is drawn as a still object.

 

3.  Pose to Pose & Straight Head Action in Animation

Straight ahead action refers to the different techniques of drawing each pose, one after the other, which can yield a unique animation style. Pose to Pose refers to the animation technique in which key frames are planned ahead of each other and then connected one after the other. Pose to Pose usually leads to a proportional animation that is very appealing and convincing to the eye.

4. Slow In and Slow Out

In the physical world, objects and humans apply momentum before they can reach full speed. Similarly, it takes time to decrease speed before something can come to a complete stop.

For example, a bouncing ball moves faster as it approaches or leaves the ground and becomes slower as it leaves its position.

5. Arc in Animation

When a person is shooting an arrow, it hardly flies straight. Gravity causes objects in motion to arc between the start and end points. Even many of the natural movements in human body move on arcs, such as arms, hands, and fingers etc. In the visual poetry “Happiness,” the creator uses many full and half circle forms to draw, move, color, shape and reveal some of the letter forms.

 

6. Secondary Action in Animation

In the physical world, we can observe primary movement only in the motion if a person is walking. Secondary actions, like a person who is swinging its arms while walking or "birds" rippling its feathers, helps support primary movements. Even smaller actions, such as blinking of eyes are also considered in secondary actions. In secondary animation, it is important that it doesn't detract from main animation.

 

7. Timing in Animation

In a true animation, timing is an essential aspect of animation. Timing also helps in establishing personality of characters and emotions they want to express. They used timing as the main tool for communicating the personality through flat shapes that are representive of body parts.

8. Appeal in Animation

A character with appeal isn’t always attractive. He or she can have an ugly or evil character with a certain level of charisma so that it makes sense within the story. In motion design, appeal can be established before anything moves by choosing an interesting typeface, creating a visual translation, or transforming images.

 

9. Anticipation in Animation

Anticipation in animation is used for target audience for an action that is about to happen. An easy way to think about this is that if a character is about to walk forward, they will move it back slightly, this will raise their momentum and will also let the people know how this person will move. For example, if a character is reaching for a glass kept on a table, it will move its hand back before moving it in the forward direction.

10. Follow Through and Overlapping Action in Animation

Follow through and Overlapping action can be considered two different principles, but they're closely related to each other. Follow through is the idea that separate some parts of the body and will continue moving even after the character has come to a stop also.

For example, if a character comes to a stop after a walk, every part of the body won't stop at the exact same time, instead the arms may continue moving forward before coming for a settlement.

Overlapping action is very similar in the sense that means different parts of the body will move at different times. For example, if a character raises its arm upwards, he will move shoulder first, then arm, elbow, and hand.

Wireframes should show: The main groups of content (what to include?) • The information structure (where?)• A description and basic visuality of the user – interface interaction (how?)

6. Visual UI Design/ Mockups

It is a realistic representation of what the product will look like, in the case of a website. The final result can look exactly like a mockup, or it can be a variation of different version revisions. Many people prefer to draw the Mockups using a graphic software, or do it straight in HTML/CSS format.

They are the backbone of your design and remember that Mockups are built on top of wireframes and go further to show overall appearance aspects of a design including type choices, color choices etc.The main aim of a mock up is to how all final appearances will look like.

A mockup is a middle-to-high fidelity, static, design representation. A mockup/ visual design draft represent the structure of information, visualizing the content and demonstrating the basic functionalities in a static way and encouraging people to actually review the visual side of the project.

Hopefully, if one follow these above steps a great all round Graphical User Interface for the web can be created.I think,I have introduced you to some new golden rules you weren’t aware were becoming popular.What are your thoughts?
